Yahoo’s Mayer Extends Parent-Leave Benefits to Attract Staff

Yahoo! Inc. Chief Executive Officer Marissa Mayer extended paid-leave benefits for new parents as she seeks to revive growth by making the Web portal a more alluring place to work for in-demand employees.
New moms who give birth can take as many as 16 weeks paid leave under the new policy. The leave is as long as eight weeks for dads as well as moms who welcome a new child through adoption, surrogacy or foster-child placement, Sunnyvale, California-based Yahoo said today in an e-mailed statement. Previously, the benefit applied only to women and lasted six to eight weeks, Yahoo said.
