Obama to Push Plan Expanding Web Connections for Students

President Barack Obama directed the federal government to expand high-speed Internet access to 99 percent of U.S. students in five years, continuing his effort to push his second-term economic agenda using executive action.

Speaking at a North Carolina middle school, Obama said he’s ordered the Federal Communications Commission to equip schools with broadband Internet, saying faster online access will improve educational outcomes and make American students more competitive globally.
