New York Governor Andrew Cuomo struck a deal with the Seneca Nation of Indians, which operates three casinos, that will pump about $400 million into state coffers and help keep cash-strapped Niagara Falls solvent.

Under the accord announced by Cuomo yesterday in Niagara Falls, the tourist mecca will get about $89 million from the money that the tribe agreed to pay. The Senecas stopped giving New York a 22 percent share of their slot-machine revenue in 2009 after nontribal lottery terminals were allowed inside a 10,500-square-mile (27,200-square-kilometer) exclusion zone.
