Sudan’s role in a Saudi Arabia-led intervention against rebels in Yemen is strengthening relations with the world’s top crude producer at the expense of ties with Iran.

Sudan has put four aircraftBloomberg Terminal under Saudi command and is prepared to deploy 6,000 troops against the Houthi rebels, the North African country’s information minister, Ahmed Bilal Osman, said on Thursday. Saudi Arabia, the Gulf’s main Sunni power, says the Houthis, who seized Yemen’s capital of Sana’a in September, are tools of Shiite Iran.
