French Recovery Takes Another Blow as Business Index Drops

France’s economy may struggle to gain traction this quarter after manufacturing shrank for a second month in August and services growth weakened.

A composite business index by Markit Economics declined to a four-month low of 51.3 from 51.5 in July. A services measure also fell and a factory gauge dropped further below the 50 level that divides expansion from contraction.
