Trichet Sends Letters to Berlusconi, Zapatero, Corriere Reports

European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet wrote to Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero of Spain suggesting measures to block “attacks” from the markets, daily Corriere della Sera reported, without saying where it obtained the information.

The letter to Berlusconi and his government arrived today and advised “significant” measures to support growth, to promote liberalization and to revive employment, according to the Italian newspaper. The letter to Berlusconi, which was signed by Bank of Italy Governor Mario Draghi, suggested Italy balance its budget ahead of schedule, Corriere reported.
