New York City’s fire department reported a “major building collapse” and seven-alarm fire in lower Manhattan.

Television images showed the mixed-occupancy building at 125 Second Ave. engulfed in flames as ladder trucks maneuvered nearby. After a report of an explosion, 130 firefighters came to the scene, according to the department.
