Maduro Claims Growing Support as Venezuelans Protest

Feb. 25 (Bloomberg) -- Venezuelan President Nicolas Madurosaid the government was gaining support ahead of a “peaceconference” he called for tomorrow following two weeks ofprotests that have killed 14 people.

“Fortunately, the violent protests have been fading andeach day we’ll conquer territories of peace and defeat them, theextreme right wing and its violence,” Maduro said at a rally inCaracas broadcast nationwide. Protesters in the street “are aviolent minority. The vast majority of Venezuelans includingmany opponents of the revolution want peace,” he said.
