Iron Mountain Inc., the Boston-based data storage and information management company, is considering an offer to buy Recall Holdings Ltd. for more than $2 billion, people with knowledge of the matter said.

Iron Mountain is working with Evercore Partners Inc. and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. on the potential deal, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the deliberations are private. No decision has been made on whether Iron Mountain will make a bid, the people said. Recall shares pared some of their earlier gains after the company denied being in talks with Iron Mountain or any other buyer.
