Taliban militants killed dozens of children in an attack on an army-run school in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar that left 146 people dead so far, the country’s deadliest terrorist attack since at least 2007.

Two attackers were still holding 50 students and teachers hostages, Mushtaq Ghani, information minister for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, said by phone. Four attackers blew themselves up and another was shot dead by soldiers, he said.
