Takata Corp. and Honda Motor Co. asked a panel of U.S. judges to combine all lawsuits by motorists claiming their vehicles lost value because of air-bag recalls and send them to a federal court in Pittsburgh, saying they would be more efficiently handled there than in other cities.

“Every defendant in this case has a facility located within 500 miles of the Western District of Pennsylvania,” Michael Mallow, a lawyer for Tokyo-based Honda, said at a hearing in Miami Thursday before the seven-member U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation.
