Daimler Shows Big Rig Improving Fuel Economy to 9.3 MPG

Daimler AG’s Freightliner unit demonstrated a heavy-duty truck that got 9.3 miles per gallon under realistic driving conditions, becoming the first company in the U.S. to reach fuel-economy goals set by President Barack Obama’s administration.
The 2014 Freightliner Cascadia Evolution improved its fuel economy through aerodynamic improvements and engine adjustments, Martin Daum, chief executive officer of Daimler Trucks North America, said today at a news conference in National Harbor, Maryland.
