KenGen Pre-Qualifies Four Companies for Plant Tender

Kenya Electricity Generation Co., the country’s biggest power producer, named four companies including Mitsubishi Corp. and Toshiba Corp. as pre-qualified bidders for the expansion of the Olkaria geothermal plants.

Alstom SA of France and Japan’s Fuji-Electricity Holding Co. have also been asked to compete for the project to increase output at the facilities by 280 megawatts of geothermal energy, KenGen Managing Director Eddy Njoroge said in an interview today in Nairobi, the capital. Tender documents are due on Feb. 24 and will be evaluated in March, he said.
