Here’s How Women Did in Congressional Primaries

Updated:

A record number of women stepped up for U.S. House and Senate races— as of Sept. 13. Overall, almost half of the women who ran won their primary. The vast majority of women who ran—almost three-fourths—are Democrats, and they’ve been more successful than their Republican counterparts. More than half of Democratic women who faced voters won their races compared to about 40 percent of Republicans.

That number isn’t final: women will appear in primaries held on Nov. 6 in Louisiana and Mississippi. These are the candidates who won or lost congressional primaries, state by state.
