Electric-vehicle manufacturing facilities in China are set to outnumber those in North America, Europe and Japan combined for at least the next two years as automakers work to meet ambitious goals. China currently has 39 plants assembling EVs and eight more planned, while the others have a combined total of 27 such factories, according to a report from Bloomberg NEF. Factories that make EVs already have the capacity to produce 16 million autos a year, according to BNEF, which projects that global EV sales will reach 4.5 million by 2022.
