New-home buyers in the Toronto region are facing some of the highest government-related charges in North America, according to a new report by Altus Group.

Government-related fees can add C$222,652 ($167,660) to the cost of a new detached home, which is typically about 20% of the total price, Altus said Monday in the report, which was undertaken for a building-industry group.
