July 10 (Bloomberg) -- If you have been reading newspapersor websites, listening to the radio or watching TV over the pastfew weeks, you have probably heard the news: “You CAN judge aperson by his shoes.” Beginning in mid-June, word of apsychology article titled “Shoes as a source of firstimpressions” began circling the globe.

Describing an experiment by researchers from the Universityof Kansas and Wellesley College, many reports declared thatshoes alone reveal just everything about the wearer’spersonality. “Overly aggressive people wear ankle boots,”proclaimed a Los Angeles National Public Radio host.
